All four remaining contestants on The Bachelorette told Becca Kufrin that they’re in love with her during the eighth episode of The Bachelorette on Monday, but she was forced to send one of them home following a shocking revelation by an old friend. Who should Becca send home next? We’ll be recapping each episode and ranking all the contestants weekly on FTW.
Last week: 1
Becca visited Blake’s hometown of Bailey, Colorado, and got a tour of his high school. The date took an unexpected turn when Blake revealed to Becca in the library that his school, Platte Canyon High School, was the site of a horrific hostage crisis and shooting in 2006.
Blake was a senior at the time, and both his mother and younger sister were in the building during the event. Blake explained to Becca how the incident changed his outlook on life, and caused him to treat life as a gift.
Before Blake took Becca to his family’s home, he surprised her by leading her into a surprise concert by Betty Who, one of Becca’s favorite artists.
Both sides of Blake’s family attended the meeting with Becca in Bailey. Blake’s mom, Shelly, said Blake is the happiest she’s seen him. Blake’s dad is understandably worried that he’ll be crushed if Becca doesn’t pick him. Good call, dad. More importantly, both of Blake’s parents seem to be comfortable with the Bachelorette process, and everyone seemed to get along with Becca.
Blake gave Becca another “I love you” as she departed, but she did not reciprocate. He later received the first rose in the Rose Ceremony, and the post-credits scene revealed that a family member told Becca that Blake is both a horrible cook and an incompetent mechanic. He might be off Blake’s holiday card list.
Last week: 3
Garrett’s family owns an agricultural business, so he spent his hometown date with Becca planting tomatoes in the soil and riding a John Deere.
Becca gushed to the camera that Garrett would be a “hot dad.” The topic of Garrett’s failed marriage came up again before Becca met his family, and Garrett revealed that Becca’s the first woman he’s brought home since his ex-wife. Garrett said that his relationship started to change when they moved in together, and that “it became her way or she’s upset.” ABC really needs to invite Garrett’s ex to the After the Final Rose show, because the world deserves to hear her side of the story.
Garrett’s mom believes the family failed to raise their issues with Garrett’s ex before it was too late, and said there were “no holds barred” this time. Garrett’s father said his son was “broken” by his last breakup, and while he seems open to The Bachelorette process, he just wants Becca to be honest with Garrett. Garrett’s mom believes Becca “could” make Garrett happy, which isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement.
Becca was blown away by Garrett’s family, and the date seemed to make Garrett a clear co-favorite along with Blake.
“Garrett’s family is so kind. There’s just so much heart and love behind all of them.”

Jason is from Buffalo, New York, so he naturally took Becca to a buffalo wing eating contest.
After the meal, Jason and Becca spent some time at a hockey rink. Jason said that hockey is a “deep root” of his life, and said the he could see Becca as a hockey mom. He showed off on the ice and kept calling Becca “Beckster,” which surprisingly didn’t get him eliminated on the spot.
Jason’s mom, Dale, pulled zero punches in her one-on-one conversation with Becca. She asked Becca if she’s found her “one person” already, or if she’s still considering her options, and Becca gave her weak response that made it clear Jason wasn’t in the lead at the time.
Jason’s mom told her son that she couldn’t tell if Becca was falling for him, asks him if he believes Becca might favor another one of the guys. Jason said he feels like he’s been an underdog throughout the competition, but feels that he’s surpassed the remaining guys. Dale was not sold on Jason’s response, but told him to follow his heart.
Jason, who had been considerably more guarded with his feelings for Becca than the other men on the show, finally told Becca that he’s in love with her, and later told a camera that he’ll never regret opening up. We’ll see about that, Jason.
Jason received the second rose during the Rose Ceremony, after Blake.
Last week: 2
Colton brought Becca to Children’s Hospital Colorado, where they met with two children and spent some time painting.
Colton’s entire family was in Colorado to meet Becca, and his mom remarked that she’s never seen Colton this happy.
Colton remarked that he has a “player/coach-type relationship” with his dad, and during a private conversation with his father, his dad immediately brought up the Tia situation. Colton said he was honest with Becca about his fleeting relationship with Tia and that it’s behind him, and his dad told Colton that he’s proud of him.
This is the first sign that there may be layers to the Colton-Tia relationship that have been concealed throughout the show. If Colton’s connection with Tia was as brief and insignificant as he made made it seem to Becca, and if he never introduces women to his family unless he’s in a very serious relationship, why is his dad so concerned about Tia?
Colton, who has only ever been in one serious relationship, also told Becca that he’s never brought a woman home to meet his family “formally.” Twitter quickly found that Colton may be misremembering.
In his conversation with Becca, Colton’s dad made it clear that he doesn’t want to see Colton suffering emotionally, and told Becca that he doesn’t want her to choose him unless she’s ready to fully reciprocate his love.
Before she departed, Colton told Becca that he’s in love with her after seeing her with his family, and while she did not say she loves him, Becca privately told a camera that she’s falling for him.
Based on the strength of the hometown date alone, Colton likely would have topped this list and been the favorite to win. What happened before the Rose Ceremony, though, changed everything.
Becca met with a few of her friends from the last season of The Bachelor, including Tia. She gave the group a rundown of her group dates, but after bringing up Colton, Tia quickly asked Becca to speak outside.
Tia – who gave Becca the go-ahead to continue her relationship with Colton earlier this season – revealed to Becca that she still has feelings for Colton.
“When I think about Colton at this point, it makes me feel sick to my stomach.”
Becca’s response was perfect:
“Well [expletive], I wish I would have known that.”
Tia, who became a supervillain on Twitter Monday night, told Becca that she couldn’t leave without revealing her feelings.
When Colton arrived for the Rose Ceremony, he stopped Chris Harrison to have an awkward conversation about Fantasy Suite week. Colton explained to Chris that he’s still a virgin, has assumed what happens during fantasy suite week, wanted to know what the expectation is. Chris explained to him that “how you choose to handle it as a man, as a couple, that’s kind of the whole point of it.” Don’t get ahead of yourself, Colton.
Just moments later, Becca chose to give Garrett the final rose of the evening over Colton. In private, Becca told Colton that she feels like a “terrible person” for eliminating him – but at least he’ll have the opportunity to reconnect with Tia on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise.
