Mets put Yoenis Cespedes on disabled list with hip strain

The Mets have placed Yoenis Cespedes on the 10-day disabled list, the team announced Wednesday morning.

Cespedes was diagnosed with a mild strain of his right hip flexor, but remained on the roster for Tuesday’s series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays.

He did not play in the Mets’ 12-2 victory.

Cespedes had played in the team’s first 37 games of the season, but has dealt with lingering ailments over the first two months of the campaign. He is batting .255 with eight home runs and 28 RBI.

The 32-year-old was hampered by hamstring injuries in 2017 and was limited to 81 games.
