The Montgomery Biscuits, a Double A minor league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, will be “Millennial friendly” when the team takes on the Mississippi Braves July 21 at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Biscuits have made the game against the Braves a Millennial Night, where the team will reportedly give out participation ribbons, feature selfie stations and promote napping and avocados.
“Want free things without doing much work? Well you’re in luck!” the Biscuits’ twitter page tweeted about the event.
Predictably, the event has been met with backlash on Twitter. People responded to the original Tweet, making fun of the day and the team’s public relations department.
The team’s Twitter has an answer for all the negativity, though.
The account encouraged fans to stop by during office hours before the game to submit a complaint. The complaint will be submitted to a “Millennial Night Thinktank.” People that do so could earn a free ticket or two.
And that tweet wasn’t well received, either.
In September of 2017, Georgetown athletics put together a Millennial Day for the men’s soccer team, where there was a dabbing “safe space” and raffles. That Millennial day also encouraged fans to nap and take selfies.
