SAG HARBOR, N.Y. — Unless Tiger Woods negotiated a discount, he is paying $1,085 a day to dock his 155-foot yacht at the Sag Harbor Yacht Club during the week of the U.S. Open.
Docking fees are determined by the size of the boat, and the Sag Harbor Yacht Club charges a daily fee of $7 per foot, according to a woman who answered the phone at the yacht club Tuesday, identified herself as Kim and declined to provide further information.
Woods could’ve saved a few bucks if he’d docked his boat in the nearby public waters. Sag Harbor charges $6 per foot, said assistant harbormaster Jake Bennett, and that would have reduced Woods’ daily bill to $930.
Of course docking in a public facility was probably as likely as Woods wearing polka dots on Sunday; his boat is named “Privacy.”
Sag Harbor Yacht Club is less than a 15-mile drive from Shinnecock Hills Golf Course, where the tournament begins Thursday.
